Book Character Day

We had the opportunity to dress up and share the many characters from our favourite stories.  Our imaginations went wild and look at all the different characters we came as.  It was a great time to share our love of reading and the books we like to read.  We have already started to think about what we will be next year.  Better get reading.

Ross Home

Last week the Bi Lingual class and room 5 went to Ross Home to perform the Kapa Haka polyfest ruperta.   They walked up to Ross Home with 3 teachers.   When they got there, they had to wait out side in the hallway. The leader of Maybank came out and told us to come in .  They had finished their morning tea.  The children walked inside and got into their lines. They got ready to sing.  The children sang and danced their hearts out.  The people in Maybank really enjoyed their performance. The children enjoyed their time at Ross Home and are looking forward to visiting them again.

Cricket

 

On Tuesday the year six children of  room 5 took part in a cricket session. Unfortanutly it was raining so it took part in the hall. First, they did some catching drills.  Next they practiced their bowling and throwing skills. After that they played some cricket games. Everyone was enjoying themselves and really getting into the activities.   At the end the children packed up and Ewen told them about the up coming "Hooked on Cricket" tournament.  Matai said a big thank you and the children returned back to class.

Spelling Quiz

 

This is a group of our speedy spellers who competed in the ODT Extra Spelling Quiz. I was one of them. There were spelling groups from all over Dunedin. The man running the quiz told us that we were the best 200 student spellers for our age group in the Dunedin area.
We went through diffrent rounds with a time limit.  When your group finished,you had to nomanaite one person from your group to take your sheet to one of the  sheet markers.   Each round was a different form of spelling. There was about 20 rounds.
At the end they anounced the winning groups then we had trival questions [they were popular because the prize was a lolly]   Most answers were in the form of a joke.
When we all finished we all got ODT pens and went home.

Kapahaka Polyfest

That time again when all our practicing pays off.  Singing.  Dancing. Remembering the different moves. Everybody worked very hard to give the best performance .  Each year we travel to the Edgar Centre and take part in the Polyfest.  This is enjoyed by all.  We can't wait for the DVDs to come out and let us watch some of the other children that performed at the festival.
