Poem

We have been writing poems from different ideas that we have been looking at.

                                     LISTEN

Listen to the soldiers, tramping through the mud,
readying themselves for combat.

Listen to the shells, dropping in the muck,
thud,thud,thud.

Listen to the rain, dripping , dropping to the cold
frozen ground.

Listen to the silence of Christmas cease fire ,
early in the morning.

Room 5 have been learning about movement and the way that planes move.

Here are some things that we have learnt:
·         There are four forces that affect the movement of the plane.
·        Weight - force of gravity on the plane, pulling the down towards Earth.
·        Lift – force on the plane, causes it to rise.
·        Drag- caused by friction opposing the motion of the plane moving through the air.
·        Thrust- forwards force on a plane, caused by engines/ propellers on the plane.

We made paper planes to see if we could find theses 4 forces.  It was interesting the types of planes that we made.  To help us with our designs we used a you- tube clip to helps use make one.

Soccer

We are lucky at our school because we get to play soccer against other school.  Every second week we verse another school in our area.  Its a good time to get to play with other children in the school and to get to see other children from other schools.  We are all good at our soccer skills and we love showing them off.  Sometimes its hard to make the team because everyone is so good and there are a lot of us.  We can't wait until the next game.

Swimming

We have had a block of learning to swim. Everyone enjoyed taking part and learning different skills.  There are great swimming teachers who take us and make it fun.  I was able to do back stroke and Connor was able to put his head under the water.

Clay Creations

Creating clay bowls was a task that we all set out to do.  Changing a ball of clay into a bowl was done through the pinching technique.   With patience and time we created these bowls.  After they were fired they were stronger and could hold a range of things.  We enjoyed making things with clay.

Cameron's Homework

Cooking seems to be a popular topic when it comes to our Topic Challenge.  Cameron used the topic of donuts to show how yeast can be used to help things rise.  He loves cooking and history , so he told us the history of the donut.  The extra was getting to taste his homework.  History can be so yummy.

Topic Challenge

Molly had been working hard on this Topic Challenge.  She was focusing in on, "How to make gingerbread biscuits."  They were fun to make and follow a recipes.  She thought she would bring the evidence of her homework to share with the class.  We thought she should get 10/10 for her challenge.
