Satine's truck comes to school

As part of my homework my dad brought his truck to school.  We looked at all the things that he had done to his truck.  I shared all the things I knnew about the truck and dad helped me.  It was fun explaining the different parts and then being able to see how many children we could get on the back.  I enjoyed this topic challenge.

Tayla and her friends PAVLOVA

For Tayla's homework she got her own choice, She thought for a while and an idea popped into her head. "Lets do a pavlova",she thought. She got her grandad to help her make a pavlova. He loves to make pavlova. So on Wednesday she got all of her ingredients and she started to make the pavlova. She made the pavlova mix and spreed it on a baking tray and cooked it for one hour. On Thursday she brought it to school and her reading group (the purple group) whipped the cream, cut up some fruit, place the fruit onto the Pavlova and finally add lots of sprinkles. Before they finished they took more photos.

Plastic plates and spoons were ready and Tayla cut her magnificent Pavlova. Time for sharing.  Lots of smiles and thank you were heard as Tayla shared out her Pavlova. Everyone loved the pavlova!

Kids can cook

What a great visit we had from Chef Chris from Kids Can Cook.
On May 13th  the whole school went to take part in Kids Can Cook in the hall.  Byron was chosen to be the Sues Chef (The assistant chef) and had to call Chris MASTER.
Byron helped Chris make french crapes with apple and silver beet .   Chris named it green snotty vegetable.    Everyone got to have a crepe and some people got more.  Some people really liked them but some people didn't. We talked about all the special new Zealand food especially  marmite and kiwi fruit.  It was fun finding out and cooking the food that we can find in our garden.

Art Gallery

Another trip and this time we went to the Art Gallery.  There we got to look at different art pieces related to our inquiry on water.  It was amazing to see how artists used the theme of water into their pieces.  We got a chance to be our own artists and created pieces .

Celebrating Success

We congratulate Tim for receiving this award for service to the community.  He has contributed to the life of the school and ensures his responsibilities are always completed.

Visit to the Otago Museum

We were lucky to make a visit to the Otago Museum this term.  With our inquiry on water, we took our findings and got an opportunity to experience some new learning around weather.  Finding out about high and low pressures, humidity, water cycle, cloud formations were just some of things we got to learn about.

Fantastic Flowers

The class was brought to life with beautiful flowers  Mrs Tofia had brought to school.  We looked carefully at these flowers and sketched their delicate petals.  We thought we would bring our sketches to life using paint and it was a good chance to practice our painting skills too.  Our pictures were perfect.  Come into our class and you will be hit with the colours our beautiful flower displays.

Self portraits

Self Portraits

One of our focuses in art , has been creating a self portrait.  We have been using a range of media to practice our skills.  From pencil sketches, painting, dye and crayon,we have used them all.
